During peer checking an accompanying review of actions by a qualified colleague (peer) takes place actively. This peer checks the correctness and appropriateness of the activity or decision and actively gives feedback or intervenes in time.
Peer checking does not replace the self-responsibility of the performer. It is used to prevent errors before execution.
Peer-Checking supports the safe execution of work with risk potential and reduces the error probability. Thereby processes and approaches are critically questioned, verified, confirmed or corrected by a qualified colleague as a peer.
Peer-checking should be particularly applied for activities with high complexity and / or high risk potential.
